The College Manor show is noticeably missing from the list.

Where will you be watching fireworks light up the night sky come the Fourth of July?

The county today released the full list of public fireworks shows between June 30 and July 4.

The closest shows to the Lutherville-Timonium area are:

July 3:

Five Farms Club House (rain date: July 6)
11500 Mays Chapel Road, Lutherville 21093

Oregon Ridge Park
13401 Beaver Dam Road, Cockeysville 21230

July 4:

Oregon Ridge Park (rain date: July 5)
13401 Beaver Dam Road, Cockeysville 21230

Lutherville residents will notice immediately the absence of from the list of sites with fireworks displays this summer.

"This is our 60th anniversary and there were those who decided to turn the celebration inward," John Horine, president, said.

A celebration will be thrown around the time of the Fourth of July for the residents of College Manor and their families.

The decision was made, according to Horine, by the board that oversees College Manor, but "it wasn't me," he said.

The video, by the way, was taken at the 2011 Independence Day celebration at College Manor.

I remember the excitement in my 5 year old son's eyes when we realized last year that we could view the Lutherville Fireworks from our backyard. I remember the light reflecting in his eyes from the fireworks exploding above, and the big smile on his face. I couldn't wait to plan a cookout for firework night this year. Then I found out they were cancelled this year. College Manor, an assisted living facility in Lutherville, has put on the fireworks show all these years and it has been a time honored tradition enjoyed by many families. People would come out, not only from Lutherville, but Timonium, Towson, Cockeysville, and Hunt Valley to view the show. Everyone who has ever seen a show is thankful to College Manor for funding and organizing the event. The cancellation of this event brings much sadness to the community. I am unsure the reason that the Board at College Manor cancelled the event this year, but if it was due to financial reasons, there may still be hope. The Loch Raven fireworks were going to be cancelled this year also, but in April 2012, Walmart came through with $10K to save the fireworks. I am hoping the same could happen with the Lutherville fireworks display. I'm sure there are many business owners and residents who could make donations to keep the fireworks afloat for this year. I hope that the owners and staff at College Manor will make the effort to try to get the funding. -Jessica, resident of Lutherville

I am very saddened of the cancellation by College Manor. But can you really blame them? They have been attacked by a minority of Lutherville residents and the LCA because of their expansion. College Manor may say that this issue had nothing to do with their decision, but I doubt it. There are always a few bad apples who ruin it for everyone. You can thank all of those nasty people who put up those horrible yellow signs in our neighborhood and the unreasonable members of LCA who like to bully people and businesses.
