Three doctors and one physician assistant have been barred from practicing medicine in Maryland following the raid and subsequent closure of a Lutherville pain clinic.
The Maryland Board of Physicians has suspended the license of a fourth medical practitioner who worked part-time at the Healthy Life Medical Group—the Lutherville pain clinic that was shut down for allegedly over-prescribing narcotics to patients without medical need. The board posted the announcement to its disciplinary alerts Web page last week. Dr. Daniel R. Alexander’s license to practice medicine was summarily suspended after the board received a specific complaint from a pharmacist, according to the board’s investigation (see attached). The pharmacist reported having received "numerous" prescriptions for large quantities of Oxycodone—issued by Alexander and other Healthy Life doctors— for out-of-state patients on Nov. 21, 2011. …

Drug Enforcement Administration officials are requesting the public's help in the case of the Lutherville pain clinic that was raided by police in May.
Investigators who carried out a raid on the Healthy Life Medical Group—a Lutherville pain clinic suspected of over-prescribing medication illegally—are seeking information about the business from former patients, medical professionals and community members. The request was made in an email sent to Patch: "The DEA is looking for people that have complaints with the Healthy Life Medical Group, the one that was raided by the Baltimore Co. Police Dept and DEA in May 2012. They [want] people to send their complaints or stories to HLMGDEA@gmail.com." Bail has been set at $50,000 for a Brooklyn, NY, woman now charged with conspiracy to distribute narcotics out of a Lutherville pain clinic.
A New York woman surrendered to police Monday morning as a suspect in connection with an investigation into a Lutherville pain clinic that was called a 'pill mill' in an affavdavit in support of a search warrant. Alina Margulis, 45, of Brooklyn, was indicted Monday by a Baltimore County grand jury on charges of conspiracy to distribute Schedule II narcotics, according to a Baltimore County police release. Margulis was ordered to surrender her passport. Her bail was set at $50,000. Patch breaks down the investigation that led to the arrest of two men who allegedly conspired to distribute powerful painkillers to thousands of out-of-state addicts.
Police have shut down a Lutherville pain clinic amid allegations that the owners were fraudulently prescribing unreasonably high amounts of powerful painkillers to patients for non-medical reasons. The Healthy Life Medical Group, located in the 1100 block of York Road, was seeing nearly 120 patients a day and routinely prescribed the maximum allowable amount (per month) of Oxycodone, among other drugs, according to an affidavit filed in Baltimore County Circuit Court in support of a search warrant. UPDATE—Baltimore County police have identified the two individuals suspected of conspiring to distribute Schedule II narcotics out of a Lutherville pain clinic. Gerald Wiseberg, 78, of Boca Raton, FL, and Michael Jacob Reznikov, 51, of Brooklyn, NY, were arrested Tuesday evening following a raid at the Healthy Life Medical Group clinic in Lutherville. Wiseberg and Reznikov were the operators of the pain clinic, where doctors were reportedly over-prescribing powerful painkillers and other drugs to out-of-state addicts, according to an affidavit in support of a search warrant.
