Cockeysville, Hunt Valley and North County were hit hard by burglaries last week—a not so great start to the new year. There were nine reported burglaries in total, mostly related to automobile break-ins concentrated in one particular area. The earliest entry in the log saw a vandal knocking over 50 grave stone markers at a local church. In addition to the burglaries, there were two armed robberies last week, although you'll have to check back with Patch later today for the details. Cripplegate Road, 13800 block, between 9 p.m., Jan. 3 and 6 a.m., Jan. 4. A burglar stole cash and a Makita model drill from two unlocked cars parked in a driveway. Hunt View Terrace, unit block, between 12 p.m., Dec. 8 and 12 p.m., Dec. 19. A burglar stole a chainsaw and an orange helmet. Knollcrest Place, 600 block, between 12 p.m., Dec. 22 and 6:30 p.m., Dec. 23. A burglar stole jewelry, gold coins, a safe, credit cards and legal documents. The culprit snuck in through an unlocked bedroom window. Lord Byron Lane, 200 block, between 11:50 a.m. and 12:10 p.m., Dec. 21. Two burglars stole several watches, an HP laptop, an iPad 2, cash, video games, a credit card and sneakers. The pair broke in through an unlocked sliding door. A 51-year-old Sparks resident had to perform an emergency landing after his black and yellow Rans S-12 airplane developed engine problems. The pilot safely landed the aircraft in an open farm field in North County. Malcolm Circle, 10300 block, 8 p.m., Dec. 12. Two men, robbed and beat up a 20-year-old Cockeysville man. Old Bosley and Pot Spring Roads, 2:50 p.m., Dec. 7. Two men in a white car pulled up next to a woman near the intersection of Old Bosley and Pot Spring roads. The passenger got out of the car and stole the woman’s pink and white purse, after spilling its contents on the street. The purse was valued at $5. Old York Road, 20800 block, between 9 p.m., Dec. 6, and 8 a.m., Dec. 7. A burglar stole a black 2008 Honda TRX700 ATV that was for sale and chained to a tree in the victim’s front yard. Upper Glencoe Road, 800 block, between 8:15 a.m. and 1:40 p.m., Dec. 6. A burglar stole jewelry boxes containing a gold band with five diamonds, a ruby necklace and assorted costume jewelry. Beehive Place, unit block, 7:35 p.m., Nov. 30. A 15-year-old boy was robbed by a man carrying a handgun. The suspect approached the Cockeysville resident, displayed a black handgun and demanded the boy empty his pockets. The boy placed his iPhone 4 on the ground. The suspect took the iPhone and ran away. East Piney Hill Road, 900 block, between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., Nov. 27. A Remington 870 shotgun was stolen out of a Monkton home. The burglar broke in by smashing the front door glass. Padonia Road, 200 block, between 4 and 4:09 p.m., Oct. 13. A Cockeysville man was arrested for fighting. Danzig Borrego, 18, was charged with second degree assault after encounters with two men on the same night. When a Parkville man tried to break up Borrego’s first fight, Borrego bludgeoned him with a stick. Coteswood Circle, 900 block, between 8 a.m., Oct. 11 and 5 p.m., Oct. 14. A burglar stole various jewelry including necklaces, bracelets and earrings from a Cockeysville home. It is unknown how the intruder broke in.
