How far would you go for charity?

Barbara Case is still on a high after this weekend, when she successfully scratched off two items on her life’s to-do list: raise awareness of kidney disease and rappel down a 33-story building. “When we went up the stairwell to the roof and walked out, I was totally excited,” Case said. “They gave us great instructions and answered all of our questions. We then got to practice on a 8 foot wall. “Next the staff member walked me around to the part of the roof where I would go off. I do remember thinking wow this is a beautiful sight of the harbor and Baltimore. There were three staff from Over The Edge hooking me up to all the gear-it was all moving quickly so I didn't have time to get nervous since they just kept you moving through.” As …

Timonium Woman to Rappel for Kidney Health

Barbara Case will descend down the 33-story Baltimore Marriott Waterfront hotel for the annual Rappel for Kidney Health Fundraiser.

Which is scarier? Lowering yourself down a 33-story building with harness and rope? Or the dangers associated with kidney disease? Timonium resident Barbara Case will cast her fears aside this weekend by performing the former to fund research and care for the latter. Case is participating in the third annual Rappel for Kidney Health fundraiser—a task she put on her “to do list” a year ago after watching a few brave souls take the leap off of the First Mariner Bank building in Baltimore.  “I knew this was something I could tackle,” Case said. “I have to admit that the thought of rappelling [33] stories terrifies me but it’s the challenge and the good cause that grabbed me.” In all fairness, participants will only be rappelling 28 stories—…
