Police have charged an 18-year-old man in the shooting of an off-duty police officer in Overlea. Essex resident Michael Jabateh, 18, was charged with attempted first degree murder after an incident in which police describe a man opening fire on a car driven by an off-duty police officer. The officer was trying to maneuver his personal car through a crowd of juveniles and young adults that blocked the roadway after leaving a party in 700 block of Dale Avenue. Police say a 22-year-old Lutherville woman wrote about the Parkville and Cockeysville homes she allegedly burglarized.
For some, a journal is a place to keep their secrets but one Lutherville woman's journal entries resulted in eight burglary charges. Emily Kearns, 22, of the unit block of Elphin Court, is charged with a series of nine burglaries that span areas in both Cockeysville and Parkville precincts. Kearns was arrested on Dec. 4 when detectives, who were keeping her under surveillance, saw her break into a home in the unit block of Country Club Lane and attempt to break into a home in the unit block of Greentree Drive in the Phoenix area, according to police spokeswoman Cpl. An off-duty police officer was shot in an Overlea area neighborhood in the early morning Dec. 9.
An off duty police officer who was shot in Overlea nearly two weeks ago was able to fire at least two rounds during the attack. A police department investigation found that two rounds were fired from weapon of the Baltimore County police officer shot when a gunman emerged from an unruly crowd near Dale Avenue and Danville Road on Dec. 9, according to an email from police spokeswoman Elise Armacost. "Investigators have not yet determined the context in which the weapon was fired," Armacost wrote, adding that police were able to confirm the officer had not been shot with his own weapon. An off-duty Baltimore County Police Department officer was shot twice in the Overlea area Sunday morning after a gunman emerged from a crowd. At 3:24 a.m. police found the officer, suffering from two gunshot wounds, at Dale Avenue and Danwood Road, according to a report from Baltimore County police. Police found out that a "large group of people" had been blocking the street, and that the off-duty officer had "stopped his vehicle and asked them to move so he could pass," the report states. "A male emerged from the crowd with a gun and fired several shots into the victim's car, striking him twice," it states. The man arrested for the stabbing death of his wife and another man in Parkville Sunday morning may have made comments about marital troubles on Facebook in the days leading up to the killings. Beginning in late October, a man using the same name as the man arrested and charged in the crime—Bryant Walls—posted to Facebook complaining of marital trouble. Police have said since Walls turned himself in that domestic issues were a possible motive in the killings. A police spokeswoman could not immediately confirm the messages were written by Walls, 45, of the 300 block of Pulaski Highway in Joppa. Bryant Keith Walls, 45, of the 300 block of Pulaski Highway in Joppa is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, Baltimore County police said. He was denied bail and is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center. Officers were called to the unit block of Solar Circle at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Police have charged a suspect for allegedly stabbing a a Tee Bee's Bar bouncer to death.
A Baltimore man has been charged with stabbing a Tee Bee's Bar security guard to death, according to Baltimore County police. Haywood Trice, 25, of the 1500-block of N. Wolfe Street, is currently being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. Trice allegedly stabbed and killed Tavares Jones, a Tee Bee's Bar security guard, who was attempting to break up a fight at the Parvkille bar last Saturday. "Just after 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2012, County Police responded to the bar for a fight call," police spokesman Shawn Vinson wrote in a release.
