VIDEO: 'Ball Boys' Talk Super Bowl Predictions, Ravens, Randy Moss & the MVP

The gentlemen of Robbie's First Base in Timonium share their thoughts on the Super Bowl.

The Davis men seldom agree when it comes to sports. And that's the way we like it. This week, however, they are united in their belief that the Ravens will bring back a Super Bowl trophy to Baltimore. For the uninitiated, Robbie Davis, Sr. and Robbie Davis, Jr. are the stars of Ball Boys, an ABC pawn-style reality show filmed at their memorabilia shop Robbie's First Base in Timonium.  Looking around the shop on West Ridgely Road, one could make the argument that the Davis boys could retire on their signed helmets, balls and posters should the Ravens beat San Francisco Sunday. Patch dropped by the stop Friday to chat with Senior and Junior about the game itself, Randy Moss's controversial comments and who they think will be the Super Bowl …

Hydrant Repair Closes Portion of West Ridgely Road

The roadway leading up to York Road has been known to be troublesome for the surrounding businesses in cold weather months.

Baltimore City Department of Public Works crews are currently (as of 3:15 p.m., Thursday) working to repair a hydrant that has forced a portion of West Ridgely Road to be shut down. DPW spokesman Kurt Kocher said they have not yet confirmed what precipitated the need for a repair. "It's possible that it could be a valve that was in need of repair. ... But they can usually fix that fairly quickly," Kocher said. Crews have cut off access to the Yorkridge Shopping Center from West Ridgely Road, leaving a right turn from York Road southbound or cutting through the Historic Lutherville neighborhood as access points. Towson Hot Bagel co-owner Tony Scotto says the road closing has affected his Thursday lunch business. (Check out Tony's photos …

'BALL BOYS': Who's To Blame For The Orioles' Losing Streak? (VIDEO)

The stars of the ABC show and owners of Robbie's 1st Base in Lutherville talk about Baltimore's prospects of another under-performing season.

Robbie Davis, Jr. and Robbie Davis, Sr. are diehard baseball fans, making it difficult for them season after season to root for the Baltimore Orioles. Still, their sports memorabilia shop—Robbie's 1st Base in Lutherville—is adorned with jerseys from Orioles greats like Eddie Murray, Brooks Robinson and Cal Ripken Jr. Even modern era players like Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis get a place on the shelf. Now that the shop has been thrust into the spotlight by way of the ABC pawn-style reality show Ball Boys, thousands if not millions of fans have tuned into to see the Davis men talk sports and honor sports history. That is why, Patch checked in with "Junior" and "Senior" (their show monikers) to see who they think is to blame for the Orioles…

Peter Angelos absolutely needs to go. In fact the team should consider a complete overhaul of the management staff. Every time I go to a game there are more fans for the other team. Like usual they start off hot....and then bomb it in the end of season. I mean honestly, when is the last time they even made the playoffs? Wasn't it like 1997?   more ›

YOU REVIEW: 'Ball Boys'

What did you think of the show?

UPDATE—A Lutherville business made its nationally televised debut this weekend. Did you watch? What did you think? Tell us in the comments section below. ORIGINAL—The owners and employees from Robbie's 1st Base are currently in New York, hours away from the premiere of Ball Boys on ABC.  The show has been compared to a sports-specific Pawn Stars-type reality show. Instead of expert historians verifying the authenticity of wares, professional athletes are flown in to approve their own signatures. Patch has been writing about Robbie 1st Base for weeks, since January.  I checked in with Robbie Davis Sr. and Robbie Davis Jr. about where they'd like to see Peyton Manning end up (VIDEO). I also questioned their NCAA tournament brackets (VIDEO). …

VIDEO: 'Ball Boys' Debate 'March Madness' Mens' Bracket

Robbie Davis, Sr. and Robbie Davis, Jr., owners of Robbie's 1st Base in Timonium, argue over their tournament picks.

Who do you have going into your "Final Four" bracket? I checked in with resident sports gurus Robbie Davis, Sr. and Robbie Davis, Jr.—owners of Robbie's First Base in Lutherville—to see what they had to say of "March Madness."   Davis, Jr. and Davis, Sr., along with a handful of employees are the stars of ABC's upcoming reality show Ball Boys, which features the Lutherville sports memorabilia shop and family-friendly sports disagreements and pro-athlete cameos that go along with it.  Ball Boys airs March 24 at 3 p.m. on ABC. You can watch the full trailer here.  After watching the video above, which features a glimpse of the colorful banter depicted in the show, have your say in the comments section below.  You can also join the Ball Boys…

SPORTS TALK: 'Ball Boys' Weigh-In on Peyton Manning Free Agency (VIDEO)

Who is the best quarterback to ever wear a Colts jersey?

The Indianapolis Colts yesterday announced that the team would be releasing star quarterback Peyton Manning. Team owner Jim Irsay confirmed that they were retiring Manning's No. 18 jersey.  Manning, however, vowed he will remain active. He became a free agent Wednesday afternoon.  The news got us thinking two things: Where is Manning going to wind up? And, now that his jersey is retired, who is the best quarterback to ever wear the Colts jersey—Manning or good 'ol Johnny Unitas.  We realize the sensitivity to this matter, considering the great divide between the Baltimore Colts and the Indianapolis Colts, but it's worth thinking about.  With that in mind, we went to Robbie's 1st Base yesterday to ask the experts what they thought of the …

VIDEO: Watch the 'Ball Boys' Trailer Here

From the production company behind "Pawn Stars" and "American Restoration" comes the new reality show "Ball Boys" featuring the local sports memorabilia shop Robbie's 1st Base.

Robbie Davis Sr., owner of Robbie's 1st Base in Lutherville-Timonium says, "when it comes to sports memorabia we ain't playing around."  That's the premise his shop will try to prove in the upcoming reality series Ball Boys, scheduled to air nationally on ABC in March.  Read more about Ball Boys here.  In the trailer, which was released Friday afternoon on YouTube, we see Davis Sr., who goes by "Senior" in the show, as well as his son Robbie Davis Jr. or "Junior," and shop employees "Sweet Lou" and "Shaggy" haggling for wares from sports history. "If it'll make us cash, we're going to buy it. If it's rare, we're going to find it," Davis Sr. says in the trailer.  (Watch the attached video to see the full trailer.)   The group travels around…

Looking For Last-Minute Ravens Playoff Tickets?

A Lutherville-Timonium business has four left for sale.

Are you kicking yourself for waiting to the last-minute to find a ticket for this weekend's Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans slugfest?  According to The Daily Record, that may not have been such a bad idea.  But if you're still on the hunt for a pair of seats to see the game at M&T Bank Stadium, look no further than Robbie's 1st Base.  I was told this morning by Robbie Davis Sr., owner of the local sports memorabilia shop and postal services business, that he has four tickets left: two in the upper deck, and two in the lower.  That was at about 1 p.m. (while we talked about the shop's new reality show.)  Davis Sr. is selling the tickets for $200 a piece. For the lower deck, that isn't a bad deal.  There are a little over 1,000 tickets left…

Robbie's 1st Base Scores Reality Show With ABC

Robbie Davis Sr., his son Robbie Jr. and employees from the local sports memorabilia shop in Lutherville are the stars of a new reality show debuting in March.

ABC network programming is hoping to hit a homerun with its new reality show, featuring a local sports memorabilia shop.  The show, Ball Boys, features characters from Robbie’s 1st Base, a Lutherville-based sports shop and postal service business. Robbie Davis Sr., who runs the business out of his 9 West Ridgely Rd. location, said the show is being produced by Leftfield Pictures—the same company that launched The History Channel’s Pawn Stars into stardom.  While Pawn Stars sometimes calls on professional historians to verify the authenticity of wares, Ball Boys features major professional athletes.  “We buy and sell memorabilia, negotiate details, go travel and go find high-end memorabilia. We went to the [Baseball] Hall of Fame to look …

We lived most of our lives in Baltimore and visited Robbie's a few times. A few years ago, we moved from Baltimore to Dover Pennsylvania. We heard about the show and were able to watch the first two episodes, they were great! We didn't know there would be more episodes, so we missed a lot. If there is a second season (and we hope there is), could you give us the dates and the times please? Thank …   more ›
