Photo of the Day: Frostbite Anyone?

Help us build our Neighborhood Gallery by submitting your own photos and videos.

Don't be fooled the sunny sky. The high today is 22 degrees and it's expected to get colder as the week goes on. Just ask Lutherville man Steve Bauer (AKA: The Timoniac, Hollywood Steve, or 1/2 of the Jokesters). At about 1 p.m., Bauer posted on Facebook, "Just walked the dog." Upon his return, the above photo was his profile picture.  Of course Bauer didn't really suffer instant frostbite, although prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures will do that, according to our Patient First Patch blogger. Bauer was merely demonstrating a point the best way he and his wife know how: makeup. Frequent readers will know Bauer and his wife Marianne Wittlesberger as the Jokesters, the team that brought you the Timonium Scaregrounds and the Timonium …

VIDEO: Creep Through the Timonium Scaregrounds Haunted Trail

Some people carve pumpkins to celebrate Halloween. Lutherville's Jokesters build elaborate haunted attractions for charity.

The threat of a tornado in North County wasn't scary enough for the 100+ brave souls who dared trek through the "bloody" mud that became the Timonium Scaregrounds Haunted Trail Friday night. It was the second official outing for Steve Bauer and Marianne Wittlesberger, Lutherville's Jokesters, who transformed their Lutherville backyard into a nightmarish jaunt for Halloween lovers. The Scaregrounds served as a fundraiser for the Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company, yielding hundreds for our local firefighters. About 35 performers put the old saying "the show must go on" to task as an unseasonably warm October day turned to a dripping wet and windy October night. The same performers, aged pre-teen to adults, have stuck with the Jokesters …

PHOTO: Timonium Scaregrounds Haunted Trail is a Go

The Jokesters are putting the finishing touches on their new haunted attraction for charity.

Vincent Price had his radio show. The Cryptkeeper had his... crypt. Lutherville's first family of Halloween has their own backyard to share their twisted tales. Historic Lutherville will be the most terrifying place to be Friday night as Luthervillians Steve Bauer and Marianne Wittlesberger—the Jokesters—host the reinvented Timonium Scaregrounds Haunted Trail. Dare to walk through 30 minutes of the most horrifying scenes two former horror film makeup and special effects artists could envision. Are you brave enough to stop at each of the 15 stations the Jokesters have designed to bring the story of Slenderman to life? Will you shake hands with the Timoniak? The Jokesters will be taking the brave souls through their haunted trail from 7:30 …

'Jokesters' Teaming Up With 'Scaregrounds' Chums for Horror Movie

If you're interested in working as an extra, keep reading.

The Jokesters—Lutherville’s first-family of shrieks and shrills—are working on a new psychological horror movie reuniting the cast that brought you The Timonium Scaregrounds. Steve Bauer and Marianne Wittlesberger, perhaps best known around the neighborhood as the family that transformed the fairgrounds grandstands into a haunted house, are teaming up with director Mike Gutridge for The Bone Garden. Bauer and Wittlesberger are attached as special effects and makeup artists, while Gutridge takes the helm as director/producer/writer.  Before shooting begins in May, Bauer said he is looking for extra help both on and off camera production. “Jokesters, er, Timoniac, working on a movie now, let us know if you are in at any point... looking for …

Jokesters Laud Meryl Streep's Oscar Acceptance Speech

That the three-time Academy Award winner thanked her make-up artist spoke volumes to a Lutherville husband and wife makeup team and Towson University professors.

The allotted 30-seconds given to Academy Award winners at the podium traditionally haven't left much time for praising "the little people" who helped get them there.  But for perennial Oscar nominees like the legendary Meryl Streep, her third victory Sunday night provided the perfect opportunity to thank first and foremost two individuals who have supported her work for decades—her husband and her makeup artist. Streep won Best Actress for her role as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady—a challenging role in which she transformed into the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.  She began by joking that she felt audiences were fed up with her third victory to which she curtly added, "but whatever," with a big smile. She went on to …

VIDEO: Inside 'The Jokesters' Workshop

Take a peak into the world of Lutherville's first family of horror.

Editor's Note: After watching the video above, follow the link below to see the students' final projects unfold before your eyes.  _____ Steve Bauer and Marianne Wittlesberger brought The Scaregrounds to Timonium and delight Lutherville annually with a famous neighborhood haunted house around Halloween. They've made zombies, monsters and ghosts come to life with the flick of their brush strokes.  They are The Jokesters, and they are Lutherville's first family of horror.  When they're not in character or working on a movie set, Wittlesberger and Bauer are in their workshop at Towson University teaching students their trade as professional make-up artists.  Patch took a peak inside a five-day mini-course offered at Towson, which was packed. …

VIDEO: Lutherville Jokesters Present 'The Witch' (YouTube)

If you like horror movies and Benny Hill comedies, this short video is for you.

Lutherville couple Steve Bauer and Marianne Wittlesberger—affectionately known as The Jokesters—share a very particular sense of humor.  We're fortunate that, thanks to the advent of YouTube, their brand of comedy can forever be treasured and enjoyed by all.  Years ago, Bauer and Wittlesberger starred in their own public access show entitled Jokestervision. We at Patch dug up this gem of an episode just in time for Halloween.  Presenting "The Witch." (If you like shock horror and Benny Hill, this video won't disappoint.)
