Lutherville-Timonium Crime: Non-English Speaker Foils Robbery

York Road, 1800 block, 10:51 a.m. on April 1. A burglary attempt was foiled over the weekend by a Subway restaurant employee partly because she doesn’t understand English, according to an incident report. A man walked into the sandwich shop and presented the clerk with a note demanding money. The report indicates that the suspect implied he had a gun. The clerk “did not understand English” and walked away to the rear of the store to speak with a coworker about the man’s inquiry. The suspect then fled out the front door. The suspect was described as a white man between 20 and 30 years old, weighing about 210 pounds, with a brown goatee, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with white lettering, blue jeans, a black ball cap.
