One of the musical acts at the 2013 Maryland State Fair has already been booked, just one day after the close of 2012's annual carnival and 4-H festival. The Band Perry—the third and final act of the Maryland State Fair's summer concert series—saw their show cut short due to an impending storm. The group's agent Rob Beckham announced on Twitter that a plan was in the works to appease fans who were let down by the abbreviated seven-song set. The band made the following announcement on its official website: "The Band Perry and the Maryland State Fair will be rescheduling the lightning shortened show Sept 1st, for a TBD date at the MD State Fair in 2013. UPDATE (1:30 p.m.)—The Band Perry's headlining concert at the Maryland State Fair was rained out Saturday night. The Baltimore Sun reports concertgoers headed for cover shortly before the scheduled 7:30 p.m. show. The Band Perry played seven songs before lightning was spotted in the area, according to a fairgrounds spokeswoman. The band went offstage, and the show was canceled 15 minutes later, the Sun reports. Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice is the third act for a third straight year the Maryland State Fair has landed, appealing to a younger "teenybopper" crowd. Wow, I feel old for putting "teenybopper" in quotes. These acts have been wildly popular in the past with Justin Bieber's concert two years ago selling out in—literally—minutes and Selena Gomez attracting over 10,000 to Timonium. Justice will be performing on stage alongside Max Schnieder at 7:30 p.m. in the infield of the fairgrounds racetrack. Tickets are still available for tonight's concert. The Grammy nominated Christian pop/rock group go on stage Tuesday, Aug. 28.
Newsboys, touring with The Afters, have just been announced as the final headlining act of the 131st Maryland State Fair, Summer Concert Series. "Newsboys, with 29 #1 radio hits, have sold over 8 million units, earned five Gold albums and reached #1 on iTunes the day of the release of its most recent “God’s Not Dead,” album," according to a release. The Christian pop/rock outfits go on stage Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m at the Timonium Fairgrounds racetrack infield. Tickets go on sale June 1 at 10 a.m. General admission tickets are $28 and can be purchased here. The bands will join The Band Perry and Victoria Justice at the state fair this year. Fairgrounds officials announced Wednesday that the singer, songwriter, actress is confirmed as the second headlining act at this year's fair.
Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice has been confirmed as the second headlining act of the Maryland State Fair summer concert series, fairground officials announced Wednesday. "Victoria Justice’s vocal talents are showcased on the Victorious soundtrack that debuted #5 on the Top 200 Charts and #2 on the Pop Charts in its first week," according to a release. "She has sold over 2 million downloads on iTunes. The 10-time Seventeen and Vogue Magazine cover girl, star in the Nickelodeon film The Boy Who Cried Werewolf, and guest on The View and The Ellen DeGeneres Show started appearing in commercials when she was only 8-years-old."
