WHIZ KID: High Schooler Clears Drains, Helps Neighborhoods

Timonium’s rainwater now pours successfully down 96 newly cleared storm drains instead of flooding the side streets, thanks to Clayton Cuddington. Clayton, a 10th grader at Dulaney High School, took on his neighborhood’s clogged storm drains for his Eagle Scout project. The project paid off. One hundred man-hours later, the drains are cleared of debris and labeled with placards advising “Do Not Dump—Drains to the Chesapeake.” Clayton, for his efforts, earned the prestigious honor of becoming an Eagle Scout on May 24. His family has received e-mails from the neighbors, expressing their gratitude that traffic no longer jams up every time the roads flood in a heavy downpour.
