The Greater Timonium Community Council meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Cockeysville Branch Library meeting room.
The operator of a proposed Sonic restaurant in Timonium will speak Wednesday evening during The Greater Timonium Community Council meeting. At 7 p.m. Thomas Bearle will discuss plans for the development, according to the council website. Some have said they are concerned about increased traffic once a new business opens. The chosen site is the vacant 2027 York Road, at York and Belfast roads, where there used to be a Roy Rogers restaurant. It has been vacant for about four years. Plans for the drive-in burger and hot dog establishment are ready, but a zoning request to approve parking on what is technically considered residential property must be cleared. Also on the agenda for the Wednesday meeting are the governor's plan to increase the …

You can add your own crazy Web video to our Neighborhood Gallery.
If you haven't heard of the Harlem Shake yet, chances are you either live in a cave or don't have hours a day to kill watching funny Internet videos. (Don't worry, ask your kids.) Fortunately, our local MOM's Organic Market has heard of the Web video phenomenon and has fully embraced its viral appeal. The video was posted Feb. 19 on YouTube and has already garnered 600 views. The average Harlem Shake video will average hits in the hundreds of thousands, with some in the millions. Examples: ... You get the idea. So what if your Lutherville-Timonium business doesn't have the best dancers (or a discernible sense of humor)? Fear not! You can still make your online presence known to our readers by adding simple photos of your shop or …

Ben and Jennifer Hauser have been working for six weeks to open the nationally-ranked 6th best chocolate shop ahead of Valentine's Day.
Glarus Chocolatiers Ben and Jennifer Hauser have made their official return to Timonium after three years spent downtown in Harbor East. And just in time for Valentine’s Day. “Insane,” is the word Jen used to describe the transition from Baltimore back to Timonium where they’ve opened a new shop at 2046 York Rd. “It’s been about about six weeks of just non-stop seven-days-a-week, moving our entire operation from downtown to back here,” Ben said, taking a time out from mixing batches of chocolates. But a promise is a promise to the Hausers. The couple, residents of northern Baltimore County, informed their loyal customers that they were trying frantically to open ahead of the busiest chocolate day of the year—Valentine’s Day. To a …

The longest serving Saturday Night Live cast member brings his political wit and arsenal of impressions to Timonium Thursday to Saturday.
Given the opportunity, who would you rather meet: former President Bill Clinton or the worst Jeopardy player for all time, Sean Connery? It's a tough choice, we know. Take your time. You wouldn't have to make that arduous choice however if you had plans to head over to Magooby's Joke House this weekened. The Timonium comedy club is featuring Darrell Hammond for five shows from Thursday to Saturday. The show was initially planned for early September, although a scheduling snafu pushed the apperance back to this weekend. Hammond has the distinction of being the longest serving Saturday Night Live cast member, where he became known for his impression of President Clinton. Hammond actually performed his impression for our 42nd President at the…

The reality show stars and owners of Robbie's First Base in Timonium lament the death of the late Baltimore Ravens owner, who brought football back to Charm City.
It's hard to tell which is more surprising: that Robbie Davis, Sr.—owner of Robbie's First Base—didn't know Art Modell personally, or that he and has son—with whom he stars in the ABC reality show Ball Boys—agreed that the late sports icon was the most influential living NFL team owner of all time. Davis Sr. and his son Robbie Davis, Jr. together own the popular sports memorabilia shop in Timonium that has become the subject of the ABC reality pawn series Ball Boys. Each episode features a different sports icon that Senior has developed a friendship with over the years through his shop and previously owned car dealership. The father and son's loud disagreements on all topics relating to sports have also become a staple of the series. But …

Local business owner Lisa Hudson says the Wednesday after Labor Day is her “very, very most favorite” day to work, and that’s not just because it’s a good shopping day. Wednesday marks her shop’s annual Sidewalk Sale for charity, which for the last nine years has benefitted the House of Ruth of Maryland. Clearing House Ltd. has for the last 22 years donated 100 percent of proceeds on this day to a Baltimore charity that helps women and/or children. The $125,000 that has been collected over the last two decades has gone to such charities as the South Baltimore Homeless Shelter, The Children’s Guild, Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and Turnaround. “There is a greater need in our community, beyond our own,” Hudson, who co-owns the shop with …

The Fells Point bar is expanding operations to Mays Chapel and Patch managed to get in the door two months ahead of schedule.
Kooper's Tavern North (of the city) is scheduled to open in Mays Chapel in August. Read all about the popular Fells Point bar's expansion and featured menu items here. But before the restaurant/bar opens its doors on Tullamore Road, managing partner Miles Perman is already giving passersby a rare glimpse of what will be on tap so to speak. (See photos.) It's a rare and—some would say—bold move to advertise wares before a grand opening. But Perman is confident Kooper's is just what the more mature Mays Chapel community ordered. "The community feedback has been phenomenal," Perman said. He anticipates Kooper's brunch offerings will make a huge splash in the already deep pond that is Lutherville-Timonium's restaurant scene. He even let Patch …

Find out when the Pikesville-based bagel giant plans to finally open its Timonium store.
First it was May. Then it was last Monday. Now it’s … (Pause for effect) This Monday, July 9! Or so I’m being told. Goldberg’s New York Bagels shop has twice now pushed back the grand opening of its highly anticipated Timonium bagel shop location. Patch stopped by the shop in the Padonia Village Shopping Center Thursday afternoon and spoke again with a store manager. The manager said last Friday’s storm knocked out power to the shop, further delaying the opening. Additionally, a sudden spree at Goldberg’s flagship location forced employees, who would’ve helped out in Timonium, to stay and man the counters in Pikesville. The Zagat Guide gave Goldberg's Pikesville shop a 22 (out of 30) for food and said: “Big, fresh and often right out …

Take a peak inside the bagel shop.
Contractors and co-owners of Goldberg's New York Bagels are working frantically to ready the shop for its Timonium grand opening. Patch stopped by the shop Friday afternoon, in the Padonia Village Shopping Center. (See photo) Goldberg's was slated to open its Timonium location in May, according to a banner that hung on inside the shop at 31 East Padonia Road. The exact reason for the delay is unknown. However, we can confirm that Goldberg's New York Bagels will open THIS SUNDAY, July 1 at 8 a.m. The shop will reportedly be smaller than Goldberg's Pikesville location. Excited?
