Padonia Station Aiding Wounded Warriors Fundraising Efforts

The Timonium bar will be donating a portion of its sales tonight to Operation Ward 57.

It seems anytime there is a day or a month set aside to bring awareness to a noble or worthy cause, there will be a night set aside at Padonia Station to help.  The same is true again for Veterans Day.  The Timonium restaurant/bar is hosting Operation Ward 57, and supporting its mission to support wounded warriors and their families.  Stop by the restaurant on Monday night between 6 and 10 p.m. for a silent auction with proceeds benefitting Operation Ward 57. The restaurant will also be donating 15 percent from the sales of food and drink to anyone who prints out the flyer above and brings it with them.  As a bonus, the wounded warriors themselves will be guest bartending this evening—although if you ask me, it should be us raising a glass…

Hometown Heroes: Joseph I. Cassilly

Banners illustrating hometown heroes, like the current Harford County State's Attorney Joe Cassilly, have lined Main Street in Bel Air since Veterans Day and will likely stay up through the middle of January.

Harford County State's Attorney Joseph I. Cassilly is among the faces that line Main Street on hometown hero banners as part of a program from Bel Air Downtown Alliance to honor veterans. Cassilly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, between December 1968 and February 1971. He trained as a ranger and was later injured in the line of duty when he fell more than 50 feet and broke his neck during a helicopter extraction in enemy territory. Cassilly's banner is hanging outside the Harford County Courthouse in Bel Air. PHOTOS: Wreaths Laid, Veterans Remembered at Wayside Cross

The Towson Elks and American Legion laid wreaths at the Wayside Cross in Towson for Veterans Day.

Residents, public officials and veterans gathered Friday morning by the Wayside Cross in Towson in honor of Veterans Day. The ceremony included members of the Towson Elks and American Legion Post 22. Following remarks and a wreath-laying ceremony at the 90-year-old memorial at York Road and Shealy Avenue, another brief ceremony was held at the Vietnam veterans memorial at the historic courthouse.

I think its wonderful the Towson's Women's Rugby Team wrote messages for soldiers abroad. I often wonder if the younger generations realize the sacrifice of past military.   more ›
