UPDATE: Water Pipe Installation Under York Road Delayed

The project was originally proposed to be complete by June or July.

Baltimore County Department of Public Works contractors have predicted a later finish date for the construction of a new water pipe under York Road—a project that began in April 2010. The anticipated date of completion has been pushed back to November from its original June or July end time, according to the Councilmanic District 3 newsletter. York Road Water Main Breaks Again

The new break is a few yards away from a break that was discovered on Wednesday.

A water main on York Road near Beaver Run Lane has broken again. Crews are on site repairing the damage, said Kurt Kocher, a Baltimore City Department of Public Works spokesman. The city handles water services for Baltimore County. Kocher said the break was discovered a few yards away from another break on the same water main discovered early Wednesday morning. "Probably a combination of heat and heavy paving equipment," Kocher wrote in an email to Patch. "Line is also aging." Both northbound lanes on York Road, south of Ashland Road are open to motorists. One southbound lane is closed, causing delays in traffic flow.
