VIDEO: Racing Toward Solar Energy

St. Joseph School teaches students about renewable energy through a hands-on model car project and race.

And they're off! St. Joseph School in Cockeysville was the site of a solar power car race Wednesday—the culmination of science teacher Lauren Greer's renewable energy curriculum. Elkridge-based Solar Energy World donated the model cars used by students in the thrilling four-heat (friendly) competition. Watch the video to see who was the overall winner with commentary from Greer and Jose Cespedes, a consultant with Solar Energy World. Middle school students were given the task of learning the material and building the model cars.
