A state senator wants a new state bird; one man's technolgical fortress is his castle; and the Senate president feels snubbed by Obama.
It's not a statue in front of the office building that bares his name but Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller did receive a bust of himself this week courtesy of the Regional Manufacturing Institute. Sen. Kathy Klausmeier, a Perry Hall Democrat, gave a sneak preview of the small, light-weight bust of Miller moments before presenting it to the Senate's top dog. "You can't have too much Mike Miller," Klausmeier said. The technology is similar to what was used in a scene of Jurassic Park 3 where a copy of a velociraptor's larynx was recreated. The institute offered legislators in Annapolis the opportunity to have themselves scanned into a computer and get busts of themselves. Miller seemed impressed with the petite bust but joked that it …

The gentlemen of Robbie's First Base in Timonium share their thoughts on the Super Bowl.
The Davis men seldom agree when it comes to sports. And that's the way we like it. This week, however, they are united in their belief that the Ravens will bring back a Super Bowl trophy to Baltimore. For the uninitiated, Robbie Davis, Sr. and Robbie Davis, Jr. are the stars of Ball Boys, an ABC pawn-style reality show filmed at their memorabilia shop Robbie's First Base in Timonium. Looking around the shop on West Ridgely Road, one could make the argument that the Davis boys could retire on their signed helmets, balls and posters should the Ravens beat San Francisco Sunday. Patch dropped by the stop Friday to chat with Senior and Junior about the game itself, Randy Moss's controversial comments and who they think will be the Super Bowl …

The Ravens quarterback might be inspiring a new look in Baltimore.
From Lutherville-Timonium Patch editor Nick DiMarco: Santa Claus has his trademark beard. Joe Flacco has his signature 'stache. With that in mind, I "mustache" you a question: Will you join our Patch region in celebrating the subtle elegance of the handle-bar facial scruff? Everybody is doing it! Baltimore Magazine's Max Weiss scored this exclusive sonogram photograph of Joe Flacco's baby. (Humor.) Still not convinced? Read on to see what Havre de Grace Patch editor Sean Welsh—our veteran sports guru—has to say about his Flacco-shave experience. From Havre de Grace Patch editor Sean Welsh: Joe Flacco—trendsetter. Call it the JoeTee, or the FlaccoStache. Whatever it is, the Ravens quarterback's funky facial hair has become a …

Owner John Liberatore said it was "an honor" to serve the Baltimore Ravens quarterback, guard Marshal Yanda and former Ravens tackle Adam Terry.
What better way to celebrate a victory against your rivals than by helping yourself to a delicious plate of veal parmigiana? That's what Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco did Tuesday when he dined out at Liberatore's Ristorante in Timonium. (See photo.) Flacco, along with guard Marshal Yanda and former offensive tackle Adam Terry, brought their families to the fine-dining Italian establishment, which has been open for 19 years, according to owner John Liberatore. "It was good to have Ravens come and eat here, especially after a big win against the Steelers," Liberatore said. "It was our honor, our pleasure to have them here." Liberatore said he approached the group of nine after the meal for a photograph. He said he congratulated them on …
