ReplyYet another feel good, vote getting boondoggle dumped onto the backs of marylands taxpayers. through direct subsidies and increased electric bills, the citizens of MD will be paying for this long after MO', and the rest of the Annapolis gang has moved on to bigger and brighter things. How much is MD chipping in? Why only 1.7 BILLION, and "only" a few % increase in utility bills. Chump change to the politicos spending other peoples money.

Frank and Steve need to crack open some history books. The cradle of Dem, Greece, collapsed into dictatorships and anarchy. Rome was a Republic, although highly restricted, until it became a dictatorship, Florence was a dem until a mafia family took over and started installing puppet leaders(sound familiar?) Russia, yes that Russia, after the csar was removed, was a socialist democracy for about a year until Lenin and the communists DISARMED and KILLED all the opposition. Iran, dem until CIA coup installed the shaw, Guatemala was a socialist dem before a CIA coup. History is littered with failed dems, but just as often, it is full of SHAM democracies. The Soviet Union and Cuba had many elections. so does Iran, so does Zimbabwe. Tyranny comes in many forms, not just some guy shouting from a podium. The new age of feudalism is about hiding behind the curtains and controlling who the candidates even are.

and if the customer doesn't want their equipment they can use a different supplier, or perhaps use their own? oh, thats right, BGE has a government sanctioned monopoly on distribution management. you use the meter of your choice. I'm happy with my current arrangement.

ReplyI would like to take this opportunity to mention that Mittal had owned the plant and was spending a great deal of money to upgrade it UNTIL the fed government stepped in and forced them to sell. since then it has been straight downhill.
Glad that washington has our backs. -

thanks for info. sounds like a harsh policy in regards to current members. do they try to reassign them to non front line positions, or just dump them on the street? how does that apply to new applicants? I can't see hiring someone with a current physical impairment for a physically demanding job. And giving away "gravy" jobs to newbies because they can't cut it while prior service types carry the water on the front lines isn't fair either.

Replyis it me, or is this article really weak on details? What kind of testing? As public safety employees, things like physical fitness and heart condition would be pretty critical to their job and public safety. Of course it should be considered. Screening for possible diabetes markers or psoriasis, not so much.

ReplyWho here remembers how Erlich wanted slots to be distributed to small businesses?
Who here remembers how the casinos were only going to be slots?
Who here remembers how Arundel Mills was promised exclusive time limited rights?
"allow the people of Prince George’s County the opportunity to decide" right........
when are the people of this state going to wake up to what the real face of corruption and cronyism looks like. there is no such thing as compromise with Annapolis. only incremental steps of getting what they want. -

Oops
pathetic argument Hal
The dealers have the power to not do a sale if they have suspicions that it is not legitimate. Several actually called the BATF and were told to keep selling. They were so concerned they asked for it in writing so if things went wrong, which it did, the dealers wouldn't be liable. Which is why no dealers are being charged with anything.
