Birthday: July 13, 1987

Bio: Nick DiMarco has been telling stories since he could speak. It seemed only natural that he pursue a career about keeping people informed.

In four and a half years he graduated from Towson University with a degree in mass communication and a certificate of broadcast journalism. While there he worked as an editor and writer for the independent student newspaper The Towerlight.

In 2008 he was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists with two regional Mark of Excellence Awards in general news and feature writing.

After graduating from TU, DiMarco spent time working with MarylandReporter.com as a staff writer. He was one of the youngest members in the State House Press Corps who covered the 2010 Legislative Session.

Our Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.

Politics
I've interned at a fairly conservative news/talk radio station as well as an indie-liberal alternative weekly newspaper. It is safe to say I've run the gamut on institutional political biases. Finally, the truth will prevail. I am a registered Democrat (I've lived in Maryland my whole life). I believe strongly in social issues and equality, which lend themselves to a liberal belief structure. But now that I'm on my own and fully supporting myself I can feel myself slipping at times to a fiscally conservative way of thinking.

Religion
I would describe myself as a casual Catholic, although I don't think my 7th grade Sunday school teacher would approve. I was Confirmed in the Catholic Church but I find that it's more important to abide by the simple guidelines of being a good person, believing in a higher power and having faith. I  will say after visiting dozens of churches and meeting with faith leaders in Lutherville-Timonium I am truly moved by the service work they do in the community and beyond no matter what the denomination.

Nick, how come when I try to delete my comment, it doesn't work? If I post and then see a mistake I would like to be able to fix it. Thanks.
