ReplyGood to see you don't allow yourself to get distracted by the rules of punctuation, Mr. Bendar. Screw what the books say is correct punctuation. People admire a renegade.

ReplyIt's so wonderful that Patch leaves a story above the fold for a week with no update. This story just never gets old! It's a good thing there isn't anything else happening in the area, like a new school being built in the Catonsville area. Why would I want to read something like that at Patch?
Don't spoil your readers! Just keep doing what you're doing.

Not true, Rick. He had the Bushmaster .223 with him in the school. It was a shotgun that he left in the car (http://www.lawofficer.com/article/news/warrants-reveal-multiple-weapo). But go ahead and keep repeating those spoon-fed NRA talking points.

What makes the arrest of Patrick Clemons notable among the hundreds of people arrested every week in Baltimore County, Mr. Bendar?

I meant 21227. The point being that this isn't a matter of opinion, a "he said/she said" situation, but a verifiable fact. Mr. Bendar, given that several members of the community have attempted to help correctly identify the location of this incident, I am puzzled by your response. Are you saying that the Baltimore County Fire Department is correct and we are wrong, or that identifying the correct location doesn't matter, or that you just don't care?

ReplyAdam, they report it as Halethorpe because the 21228 post office is located in Halethorpe. The fire clearly not in Halethorpe despite what your sources say. Halethorpe is located outside of the Beltway. Southwesth Area Park is located in Baltimore Highlands. Unlike the Pope, Baltimore County Fire Department is not infallible. Simply repeating information that is obviously wrong in not journalism. I was under the assumption that facts mattered. Isn't that your job, to verify facts? Or are you just a stenographer?

They don't know the neighborhoods, and they don't care. When I tried to help by pointing out an error in a crime story, Patch editor Adam Bendar responded, "The police identified the location as Halethorpe. If that isn't correct, that's on them and not on us." He may as well be saying, "I can't be bothered to verify or correct facts, and I don't care whether it is correct." If the job of journalist is to just reprint press releases, that could be done by a well-trained parrot.
