MAC Timonium Honored for Best Local Business in Health Category

The local gym, which celebrated its 15-year anniversary last Friday, was recently named the 2011 Best of Timonium Award in the Health Clubs & Gyms category by the U.S. Commerce Association.

The U.S. Commerce Association’s “Best of Local Business” award program honors local businesses throughout the country.

“These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community,” according to a release.

MAC Timonium vice president of marketing Sharon Nevins called the award a “huge honor,” but maintained that the club's mission is about the wellness of its members.

“This one is just more confirmation that we’re doing what we’re supposed to do. We want to make sure we’re meeting our members’ needs. That’s the standard we really hold ourselves to,” Nevins said. “The awards are a nice pat on the back.”

The local gym is no stranger to accolades, winning “best of” awards from Baltimore Magazine and Baltimore City Paper on numerous occasions. MAC Timonium’s aquatic facility was also placed in the top 25 nationally, according to Nevins.

“We really care about our members getting results. It’s not just lip service,” she said.
