Timonium Woman, Central MD Rotary Aiding Sandy Relief

Find out more about volunteering and how you can help the victims of last week's Superstorm here.

New Jersey is not South Sudan—but where there are people in need of help, that's where Timonium woman Linda Tice wants to be.

Patch last wrote about Tice in November 2011, weeks before she was due to depart on a mission to South Sudan on behalf of Disaster Aid USA. Numerous delays put the trip on hold, leaving Tice "very disappointed," as she wrote in numerous email exchanges.

At 66 years old, Tice believed (last year) it was her time to give back. A year later, she's heading to Woodbridge, NJ to help the victims of Superstorm Sandy.

She is going as a representative of Disaster Aid USA and Rotary District 7620, which encompasses central Maryland and Washington D.C.

"This will likely be the first of three trips to NJ," Tice wrote in an email. "Several Rotary Districts are coordinating the effort to bring relief to those affected by the storm."

Tice promised to keep Patch updated on the mission. With that, we once again have to put her in our "Volunteers in the News" spotlight.

If you too wish to help the victim's of Superstorm Sandy (but can't make it up north), the American Red Cross provided Patch 7 simple ways that you can make an impact.

Editor's Note: Patch is always looking to shine a light on the people who deserve it. If you know of an upstanding, selfless individual let us know about it by posting an announcement.

While we look for volunteers to write about, we're sure some of you out there are looking for a few volunteers to put to work. With that in mind, check out our Volunteer section. Let Patch readers know whether you are ready to roll up your sleeves or are in need of a few good people
