ShopRite Timonium Announces 2012 Culinary Classes

Learn new recipes at the workshop every Tuesday night between Jan. 10 and March 27.

 

has announced its 2012 Culinary Workshop series, with an emphasis on in the new year. 

The two- or three-hour classes are held every Tuesday night between Jan. 10 and March 27 at .

Sessions include recipes for NFL playoff game days and the Super Bowl, as well as cooking for your special someone around Valentine's Day, among others.

Professional chef Donna McCulloch will preside over the classes, which cost either $20 for two-hour classes or $35 for a select few three-hour special classes.

Tuesday, Jan. 10, 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., $20.

Menu includes: pan-fried pork with pomegranate sauce, shaved brussel
sprouts salad with currants and almonds, flourless chocolate cake.

Comfort in a Bowl 

Tuesday, Jan. 17, 6:30 ­p.m. and 8:30 p.m., $20.

Menu includes: leek, celery root and stilton soup, Italian beef stew with
gremolata, hot and sour noodle soup.

Game Day Tapas

Tuesday, Jan. 24, 6 p.m. and­ 9 p.m., $35.

Menu includes: chorizo twice-baked potato bites, beef bruschetta, mojito
wings, crab-goat cheese pinchos, sizzling shrimp pastries.

Indy Eats: Celebrating the Big Game

Tuesday, Jan. 31, 6:30 p.m. ­and 8:30 p.m., $20.

Menu includes: red zone veggie dip, hoosier breaded pork sliders, asparagus, tomato and blue cheese salad, Indiana sugar cream pie

Love and Laughter: Whimsical Recipes for Romance

Tuesday, Feb. 7, 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., $20.

Menu includes: steak pizzaiola, gorgonzola twice-baked potatoes, fiery
roasted asparagus, whimsical cake pops.

Live Right: Recipes from the Heart for the Heart

Tuesday, Feb. 14, 6:30 p.m. and­ 8:30 p.m., $20.

Menu includes: mushroom-pilaf soup, citrus-pepper salmon, strawberry salsa
sundaes.

The Soulful Kitchen: Culinary Lessons for Black History Month

Tuesday, Feb. 21, 6:30 p.m. and­ 8:30 p.m., $20.

Menu includes: praline ham with cranberry-peach chutney, roasted garlic
collard greens, sweet potato gratin.

The Art of Braising

Tuesday, Feb. 28, 6:30 ­p.m. and 8:30 p.m., $20

Menu includes: braised garlic artichokes, braised pot roast with root
vegetables, ponzu-braised chicken with tomatoes, lime and hominy, green
salad with fresh herbs.

Go Green: Modern Irish Recipes 

Tuesday, March 6, 6:30 p.m. and­ 8:30 p.m., $20.

Menu includes: Pub-style strip steak, creamed spinach, roasted garlic
cauliflower mash.

Rock and "Roll": A Fresh Spin on Sushi

Tuesday, March 13, 6 p.m. ­and 9 p.m., $35.

Menu includes: basic sushi rolls (pickled vegetable rolls and California
rolls), salmon poke bites, California temaki-zushi (hand-rolled sushi).

Culinary Essentials: Knife Skills 

Tuesday, March 27, 6:30 ­p.m. and 8:30 p.m., $20.

Menu includes: grapefruit-cranberry marmalade toasts, jicama and red apple
salad, stuffed chicken with caramelized onion-mushroom gravy.
