UPDATE: Excessive Heat Spurs a Second Day of Early Dismissals

Afternoon activities and pre-K are canceled, but graduation exercises will continue as planned.

Baltimore County Public Schools will again be closing three hours today due to excessive heat and humidity. 

The decision was made yesterday afternoon.

Afternoon kindergarten and after-school activities have been canceled, although graduation ceremonies will proceed as scheduled.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory and an air-quality alert. 

A chance of showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast, mainly after 2 p.m. Some storms could be severe, with hail and damaging winds, according to the NWS.

The high today is 94 degrees, with a 50 percent chance of precipitation. 

Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 62. There will be a 30 percent chance of precipitation (showers and thunderstorms) before 8 p.m.
