Councilman's Son Charged with Traffic Offenses in Accident

Baltimore County 's son, John Huff, has been charged with two traffic offenses stemming from an accident last week in which the car he was driving struck a pedestrian in Timonium, county police spokeswoman Detective Cathy Batton said. 

Huff, 20, of the unit block of Felton Road in Lutherville, has been charged with failure to yield and driving on a suspended license, online court documents show. 

Batton confirmed that Huff was driving on a suspended license at the time of the accident. Baltimore County police are working on determining the reason why Huff's license was suspended, Batton said.

At about 6:31 p.m. on Dec. 23, Huff was driving southbound on York Road when he slowed to brake for two pedestrians using a crosswalk at High View Street. The two pedestrians were headed away from , while a third pedestrian was walking in the opposite direction, toward the restaurant. 

, striking him with the front left side of a white Dodge Caravan, according to the police report. 

The pedestrian was transported to for treatment of minor injuries, according to Batton.

Driving on a suspended license is an arrestable offense, although arrest is not mandatory, Batton said. Huff, who was not arrested, will have to appear in court to face the charges.
