Tornado Watch in Effect Until 2 a.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a warning in Howard, Baltimore and Carroll counties.

A tornado watch has been issued for Baltimore County, according to the National Weather Service

The watch is in effect until 2 a.m.

Also included in the alert are Howard and Carroll counties.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely, tonight, between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. There is a 60 percent chance of precipitation in Lutherville-Timonium. 

The warning was issued at about 7:30 p.m. when the "National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado 8 miles west of Ellicott City ... Or 7 miles West of Columbia ... Moving Northeast at 30 mph," according to the NWS website.

Locations nearest to the storm are Ellicott City, Woodlawn, Oakland, Randallstown and Milford Mill. 

"Take cover now," begins a precautionary warning on the service's website. "Move to an interior room on the lowest floor or a sturdy building and avoid windows. If outdoors or in a mobile home or vehicle ... move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
