VIDEO: Mark Teixeira Talks About Playing Against the Orioles

The Yankees' first basemen says he's OK with being booed by fans in Baltimore and beyond.

When the New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira comes home to Maryland there are two things he expects: a G&M crab cake and to get booed by Orioles fans.

The Severna Park native says it comes with the territory with being a New York Yankee, although these days Teixeria says he's starting to appreciate more the "sports fanatic" that has come alive in most dormant O's fans.

Watch the video to see more about what Teixeira thinks about coming home.

Teixeira got his start in baseball while attending Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore, where he returned Friday for his favorite teacher's birthday.

Teixeira, the , —a class that the school's principal Barry Fitzpatrick said Teixeira aced so many years ago.

ah, no worries Mark- we love our home grown boys who make it big :) very proud of your success- and you know that when you were a kid at Camden yards you booed the Yankee's, Red Sox or whoever came (to beat us then, lol ) don't take it personally and remember not all of us boo you- except when you had on purple (St. Joe colors) and you played against the blue and gold- (Loyola) lol- now heal up so we can be proud and cheer you on- a Loyola mom and Oriole fan

Your Dad "Tex" is / { was if retired}, a very well respected & well-liked Manager at Westinghouse BWI. It was a pleasure knowing him & working with him, including when he was the Mgr. at the Sykesville plant. Congratulations on being a MLB Star !. John Norville, Ret. Westinghouse Hunt Valley Q.A. Mark Teixeira was offered more money than the O's offered, and God knows he had a better chance at the time to get a World Series ring. What would you do?

I think the boos stem from him saying that he grew up rooting for the Yankees during his intro press conference in NY.

G & M crabcakes? My, they're horrible. Don't like him cause he's a Yankee, but have lost all respect for him based on his taste in crabcakes.

Personally, I could live comfortably on even a low-end baseball salary... so, playing for the home team would be my top priority...but some people don't place much importance on loyalty. It's not about prestige, it's about doing something that matters for the people who actually deserve it... and believe me, New York doesn't.

I was at the Saturday night game and glad that Mark was back in the lineup. I feel that you cheer the hometown guy whether from Salisbury or Monkton. He worked hard for his success and doesn't need to explain it. His parents still live in Severna Park.

Mark's loyalty is to his family.

Get real. His loyalty is to his bank account.

You nailed it on the head. I will forever boo him due to that reason alone. How do you grow up here and not mention Cal, Eddie, Jim, Brooks, Frank or any of the Oriole greats. He is a product of the Evil Empire.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Why do they call him "Tex"? He's not from Texas. And it's TEIX-eira, not TEX-eira.
