SHA To Resurface, Improve Safety on York Road

State Highway Administration road crews will be repairing and resurfacing a one mile stretch of York Road between now and the end of summer, according to a release.

The $1.2 million project will upgrade sections of curb, gutter and sidewalk, to meet current Americans With Disabilities Act standards. Patching, grinding and resurfacing work will begin in mid-June.

Traffic shifts and single lane closures between Ridgely and Timonium roads will take effect between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays.

"No SHA construction-related lane closures will take place along York Road in Timonium during the (August 24 – September 3). Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete by Labor Day," the release states.

Some traffic delays are expected. Drivers are being advised to plan for extra travel time during the construction.

"While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes," the release states. "Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.   Safer driving and safer work zones benefit everyone."
